Located at the height of 8600 feet at a distance of 200 Kms from Shimla is the village of Sangla. It is one of the most charming valleys located in the Kinnaur district of Himachal and very near to the Indo-Tibetan border. The whole Valley is surrounded by mountains. The valley is famous for its apple orchards, cherry trees and trout fishing. The valley is also popular for its camping with a number of camps on the banks of river Baspa providing adventure activities to tourists. There are a lot of popular walking trails around to see the local flora & fauna.
For adventure lovers short treks are available to Rakcham and Sangla Kanda. Trout fishing can be arranged for the angling lovers. One also must visit the Bering Nag temple, devoted to Lord Shiva and famous for its architecture. You can also visit the monastery, Kamru Fort, Tibetan wood carving center where you can pick up souvenirs and gifts for family and friends, trout farm and Saffron Farm. You can also do a day trip to Chitkul which is the last town on the Into-Tibetan border. One can visit Sangla Valley from March to June end and from September to December. Monsoon months should be avoided. However, if you are travelling during March, November & December, please go well prepared as it is extremely cold during these months.
