Located at a height of 9000 feet, about 65 Kms drive from Shimla, surrounded by pinewood forests is a quiet little town of Narkanda. While driving from Shimla, there is a small village called Fagu from where you can get very picturesque views of Narkanda. It is a popular destination with skiers in winter months. Another popular tourist attraction in Narkand is Tannu Jabar Lake. Adventure lovers can take a short trek to Hatu Peak, 8 Kms trek to the top offering panoramic views of the town below. Narkanda is known as gateway to apple country of Himachal Pradesh.
We can also do a day trip to Kotgarh and Thanedhar locate some 17 Kms from here. Both the places are famous for its apple orchards. Famous Stokes Farm is located in Thanedhar and is renowned for its Red Delicious, Golden Delicious and Royal Delicious apples. Narkanda is a round the year destination, with the rods open for most of the year. In winters one can enjoy the skiing here.
