We suggest that after resting for some time take some short hikes within Manali or visit old Manali town. Walk as much as possible as that will help you to acclimatize to higher altitude.

Check out around 7:30 am and leave for Jispa. We will cross Rohtang Pass and enter the Lahaul Valley.
A 2 hours drive takes to Rohtang Pass where you can have a short halt and take some photographs and have a cup of tea/coffee. From here another two hours drive takes you to Keylong, the administrative headquarters of Lahaul & Spiti. Keylong also known as “Land of Monasteries” is located on the banks of river Bhaga. You can spend a few hours in Keylong looking at various monasteries and taking photos. A little walking will also help you acclimatize to high altitude as the next day you will be crossing two of the highest passes on your tour.
From here we drive on to Jispa which is 45 minutes drive. On arrival in Jispa check in at your hotel. Jispa village is also located on the banks of river Bhaga. We suggest you take short hikes around the village to help you acclimatize.

Today is one of the most exciting days and we will be doing the longest drive of our tour and we will cross some of the highest mountain passes in the world.
We suggest that you start your drive at 6:30 am after the breakfast at the hotel. The first mountain pass, Baralacha la, that we will cross is 53 Kms from Jispa and will take us 1.25 hour to reach. It is mostly uphill drive and from 10500 feet you will reach 16050 feet. Have a very brief stop for photos and then start your decent to Sarchu at an altitude of 14070 feet, which is 33 Kms and takes around 1.25 hours to reach.
From Sarchu we gradually ascend again towards Nakee La, 36 Kms from Sarchu and 1.25 hours drive, at an altitude of 15640 feet.
From Nakee La we further ascend towards Lachalung La at an altitude of 16600 feet. The 19 Kms drive will take you around 45 minutes to 1 hour.
From Lachalung La we gradually descend to Pang which is 21 Kms and about 1 hour drive and at an altitude of 15050 feet. We should reach Pang by 1:00 pm. Here you can have your lunch.
After lunch continue the drive to Leh passing through Skyangchu Thang which is the biggest and highest plateau on Earth on a stretching 42 kms. 66 Kms and 2 hours drive from Pang, we will cross the highest pass today, Tanglang La, at an altitude of 117480 feet and follow the Indus Valley towards Leh.
Another 2.25 hours drive will bring us to Leh.

After breakfast your day today is for relaxation and see local sights in Leh town.
You can visit the Shanti Stupa, Sankar Gompa and Leh Palace. Explore the bylanes of Leh, visit the old town and meet the locals.

After an early breakfast leave for Nubra Valley around 7:30 am. Today you will drive through Khardung La pass which is one of the highest motorable roads in the world at an altitude of 18380 feet. The 40 Kms drive will take you around 2 hours.
After spending some time at Khardung La taking photos and perhaps have a cup of tea/coffee, continue your drive to Nubra Valley.
From here we drive another 90 Kms which will take 2½ hours to arrive at our Camps in Nubra Valley.
On arrival check in at the Camps and after some rest we visit Dixit Monastery and Hunder. At Hunder you can enjoy camel ride on double humped camels.
On clear days at Nubra you can have amazing views of the sky and many times you can see the milky way with naked eye.

Khardung La

After breakfast drive to Panamic village which is famous for its natural hot water sulphur springs. Also visit the sacred Samstalinga monastery. Return to the Camp for lunch.
After lunch drive back to Leh town crossing the Khardung La.

After breakfast leave for Pangong Lake located at an altitude of 13860 feet. The lake stretched for 130 Kms and the line of actual control between India & China passes through this lake, so part of the lake lies in China.
Today we will drive through Chang La which is the third highest motorable road at an altitude of 17590 feet. It is 75 Kms from Leh and about 2.5 hours drive. After a brief photo stop we carry on driving to Pangong Lake.
Another 80 Kms and 3 hours drive will take us to our Campsite or Home stay in Spangmik Village on Pangong lake.
On arrival check in at the Camps. Spend your afternoon photographing the lake to your hearts content as the lake changes colors with the time of the day.
Here also the skies at night are unbelievable and if you are interested in star gazing, then this is your best opportunity for that.

After breakfast we leave for Leh againg crossing over Chang La.
Today on our way to Leh we will visit Hemis Gompa which is one of the largest monasteries of Tibetan Buddhism, Thiksey chorten which is situated on a hilltop and looks over the inhabitants of Leh, Shey Palace and Stok Palace museum.
On arrival check in at your hotel in Leh.

After breakfast check-out from the hotel. Drive to Gurdwara Pathar Sahib which is 23 Kms and 40 minutes drive from Leh. The Gurudwara is dedicated to Guru Nanak Dev Ji and has the stone with the imprint of Guru Nanak’s body in meditation posture and also the foot print of the demon who tired to kill Guru Nanak with this stone. Guru Nanak is weel respected by the Tibetan Buddhists who consider him a saint.
After paying your respect at the Gurudwara we continue 4 Kms down the road to the point called Magnetic Hill which is a Cyclops Hill. This area with its surrounding slopes created an optical illusion of a hill where it seems the road is uphill whereas actually it is a downhill road. The stationery vehicles may appear to be rolling uphill in defiance of gravity, whereas actually they are rolling downhill.
From here we continue our drive to Lamayuru which is another 123 Kms drive and takes about 3¼ hours to reach. Lamayuru is also called Moon Land, perched on a hill top in a picture postcard setting and is one of the oldest monasteries in Ladakh. The main sanctum of the monastery has a cave where Mahasiddha Naropa meditated for many years. You can have lunch at local restaurants here.
After lunch continue your drive to Kargil which is 103 Kms from here and 2½ hours drive. On arrival in Kargil check in at the hotel. Rest of the day free.

Kargil

After breakfast check-out from the hotel and drive to Srinagar which is 206 Kms from Kargil.
We will cross Drass which is the second coldest inhabited place in the world. Drass is 65 Kms from Kargil and it will take 1.25 hour drive to reach Drass. Another 1.5 hour drive covering a distance of 42 Kms will take us to Zojila Pass which is the highest mountain crossing today at an altitude of 11500 feet.
Once we cross Zojila Pass another 45 minutes drive will take us to Sonmarg. You can have lunch in Sonmarg. You can spend some time in Sonmarg taking photos.
From Sonmarg a 2 hour drive will take you to Srinagar. On arrival check in at the Houseboat.
Time permitting you can take a Shikara ride on Dal lake or go for a short trip of Mughal gardens.
