The road from Te Anau to Milford Sound is one of the most scenic journeys one can experience on a self-drive holiday. This 240 Kms journey takes about 2 hours, but you should take your time driving there as there is so much to see on this route and so many places where you would like to take photos. 30 Kms drive bring you to Te Anau Downs where one can spend time enjoying some of activities available. Then you reach Mirror Lakes where lakes mirror the mountains and you can click away to your hearts content. On this route the other places you can stop are Cascade Creek, Lake Fergus, Hollyford Valley Lookout, Monkey Creek and Mount Tukoto.
The highway from Anchorage to Seaward in Alaska is another one of world’s most scenic drives. It is a 205 Kms drive passing through some breathtaking scenery and takes around 3 hours, but if you are on self-drive holiday please take your time, spot at places and click memories that will remain with you forever.. The first 80 Kms of this highway goes around the base of Chugash Mountains and shore of Turnagain Arm, where there is a good chance that you may spot beluga whales, Dall sheep, waterfalls and eagles. The remainder of the highway passes through mountains across the Kanai peninsula, offering some of the best views of wind Alaska. Places to lookout for are Bird Creek, Bird Point, Girdwood, Mount Alyeska, Portage Valley, Turnagain Pass, Canyon Creek, Moose Pass and Resurrection Bay.
Drive from the town of Banff to Jespers is another one of world’s amazing drives. It is 288 Kms from Banff to Jerpers, you will first drive to Lake Louise which is 58 Kms from Banff. From Lake Louise the Icefields Parkways drive starts covering a distance of some 230 Kms to the town of Jespers. It is usually a 3 hours drive but when on a self-drive holiday it will take you at least 6 or more hours to reach Jespers as you will have so many scenic stops on the way. The drive is most pleasurable during Summers and Autumn. The scenery, mountains, waterfalls, glaciers, is so incredible that you will stop time and again on this highway to take photos and there is a good chance that you will see some wildlife also. Places to look out for are Vermillion Lake, Jhonston Canyon, Lake Louise, Peyto Lake, Athabasca Glacier & Columbian Icefields, Sunwapta Falls and Athabasca Falls. When near Columbian Icefields, you must try Glacier Skywalk.
Amalfi coast is considered one of the world’s most scenic stretches of coastline and the drive takes you through picture perfect small villages, beaches and mountains. From Naples to Salerno it is a 4:30 hours drive covering 140 Kms. However we suggest you start early morning and take your time reaching Salerno as there are so many places one can stop enroute. Some of the places you can stop at are Sorrento, Praiano, Positino, Amalfi and Salerno. While driving from Amalfi to Salerno you can take a diversion to Ravello which is considered as one of southern Italy’s most romantic and beautiful small town perched on steep terraced slopes.
Also known as Utah’s Scenic Byway 12, is a 197 Kms of pure bliss and an epic journey taking you through Canyons, plateaus and valleys. For a tourist seeking a thrill this route offers endless options of outdoor activities, the route passes through Bryce Canyon National Park, Capitol Reef National Park. There are some great restaurants and shops on the route. Summer time is the most popular time to travel on this route and you should set aside at least 3 days to cover this route. The must visit places on the route are Red Canton, Bryce Canyon National Park, towns of Tropic, Cannonville and Henrieville, Kodachrome Basin State Park, Escalante Petrified Forest State Park, town of Escalante, Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, Calf Creek, town of Boulder, Boulder Mountain and Capitol National park.
